Mr. Scott Randolph Epperson age 57, of 1046 N. Lincoln Street passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at North Clinton Avenue Baptist Church in Dunn. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Stines and Rev. Leon Tart. Burial will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at ll:00 AM at Ferguson Family Cemetery in Hatton, Alabama with Elliott Funeral Home directing local service.
Scott was born May 16, 1956 in New Jersey to the late Randy & Pauline Piekos Epperson. Mr. Epperson was a retired policeman and detective serving the Benson, Dunn, Tennessee and Georgia Police Departments reflecting 33 years of service. Scott was very active and enjoyed appearing in numerous plays with the Harnett Regional Theater and the Benson Foundation for the Arts where he also served on the board of directors. Scott was also credited with the Mayberry Show with the Benson Foundations for the Arts. Scott was also known as a nationally renown Barney Fife impersonator where he looked, walked and talked just like Barney Fife. He has appeared in various events all over the United States and Canada. Scott took great pride in his impersonation and felt very honored to spread joy, laughter and smiles to so many people across the country. Scott also was very experienced in radio spending most of his time at WPYB radio. Scott appeared in television commercials, promotions and music videos. Scott lived his life to the fullest and was a member of North Clinton Avenue Baptist Church in Dunn.
Surviving include his wife of 25 years, Melanie Speake Epperson; Beloved Dog, Painter Epperson; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Kent & Kathryn Epperson of Ararat, Virginia; and Clint & Dauna Epperson of Kodak, Tennessee; Mother-in-law, Bernice Carroll of Alabama; Sisters-in-law, Cheryl Sanders and Chella Hall both of Hatton Alabama; and Brother-in-law, Darwin Speake of Hatton, Alabama, Several Nieces and Nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Scott’s memory to the Benson Foundation for the Arts, Post Office 335, Benson, NC 27504.
