In Loving Memory of
Scott Paul Tuggle
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”
Psalm 91:1
Scott Paul Tuggle, age 40, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his family home in Bell Buckle, TN. Born in Millersburg, OH, he was raised in a loving home where he was taught the truth of the Gospel. In beauty that only our dear Lord can orchestrate, Scott took both his first and last breath in his mother’s arms.
Scott was a veteran of the United States Army, having served with the 173rd Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. He served in Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Afghanistan and Haiti. He was decorated with several awards and badges, including the Egyptian Parachutist Badge, Italian Parachutist Badge, Jordanian Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Two Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), NATO medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and German Armed Forces Parachutist Badge-Bronze.
One of his proudest achievements was serving with the 2nd Battalion (Airborne) 503rd Infantry, “The Rock,” in combat throughout Afghanistan.
Scott taught Communications at Cal State Long Beach, Mt. SAC, Rio Hondo, and Pasadena Community College. He was an instructor in the Boots 2 Books Program at Pasadena Community College, taught the first Veterans-only Speech class, and helped lead the Annual Veterans Camping Trip.
Scott loved his family, his friends, his country, and “all earth’s creatures.” He loved teaching, gladly giving his own skills and time to help others. He was a beloved son, brother and uncle. A good soldier who earned the respect of his comrades. Scott desired to do all things with excellence. He loved his family well — championing them— most especially his mother. He loved his fellow soldiers by helping them regain good memories after they returned home. He loved woodworking and so devotedly applied himself that each piece was both meaningful and beautiful. He gave most of it away. Everyone who knew him has some specific memory of his tender-hearted care for them.
He ardently wanted to have mattered in this life. Since he gave some good thing to each parent and every sibling, to each close friend and every soldier he knew, Scott did what he set out to do.
Scott is survived by his parents, Ron and Malinda Tuggle; siblings Chris Tuggle, Krystle Chhan and husband Hezekiah, Courtney Lara and husband Andrew, Kevin Tuggle, Claudia VanHoute and husband Noah, Kelly Tuggle; former wife, Lina Calderón-Morin; nieces and nephews: Abigail, Josiah, Esther, Caleb and Gabriel.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 24th at Whippoorwill at Kingdom Acres. Burial will follow in Kingdom Acres Cemetery
(1705 Kingdom Road Bell Buckle, TN).

Perhaps the great lesson for our family in these days is to love well, forgive much, run to Jesus and live. “In Him all things are held together,” even our broken hearts (Col 1:17).
Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.
Do you believe this?’
John 11:25-26
