Sarah M. Shumpert Wray, 90, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at her son’s home in Amory. She was born Oct. 17, 1922, in the Evergreen community to Andy and Dessie Shumpert. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Fulton. She did house cleaning, upholstered furniture, and cooked for people during her working years. She enjoyed inviting people over her house and cooking for them.
Services will be private for family only and will be held at a later date. McNeece – Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Duane Wray, Sr. (Beverly) of Amory, and Carl Wray of Milwaukee, WI; one daughter, Diane Wray of Milwaukee, WI; three brothers, John Shumpert of Jacksonville, FL., Otis Shumpert of the Evergreen community, and Robert Shumpert of Pensacole, FL.; five sisters, Blanzine Shumpert Dunwoody of Fulton, Loisteen Shumpert of Dorsey, Murtha Shumpert of Dorsey, Exie Shumpert and Cedera Shumpert Muhammad, both of Verona; several grandchildren, great grandchilden, and great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
