On Saturday morning, July 6, 2024, Sarah Loyce Carter, 91, resident of Falkner, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Carter’s life will be at 10 AM Tuesday July 9, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Dewayne Dubar officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Monday, July 8, 2024, and from 9 AM until time of service on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.  Burial will be in the Little Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Carter was born March 23, 1933, in Tippah County, to the late Merritt and Oanie Jackson Harrell. She was a graduate of Falkner High School and was employed for twenty-five years with Genesco.  In 1950 she married her beloved husband, Ray Carter and together they had three children, Brenda Churchill, Benny and Terry Glen Carter.  Mrs. Carter was a faithful member of New Salem Primative Baptist Church, she loved working in her yard, preparing meals for others, and was well known for her gravy biscuits and coconut cake.  Family was everything to Mrs. Carter and she loved sharing her time and taking care of them.

Memories will continue to be shared by one son, Benny (Ann) Carter, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, James Caviness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, one daughter Brenda K. Churchill, one son, Terry Glen Carter, one sister, Betty Caviness, one grandson, Curtis Drewery and one granddaughter, Amanda Drewery.
