Sarah Frances Welborn, age 86, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Welborn was a lifelong and faithful member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist church. She was a foster parent for several years, even winning the foster parent of the year. She loved to quilt and made many beautiful quilts. She was a good mother, mother-in-law; and her favorite name was “Maw Maw”. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman & Connie (Jackson) Holden; son, Charles Ray Welborn, siblings, Kenneth Holden, Doris Holden James, and Olen Holden; and father of her children, A.C. Welborn.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Harold Welborn, Billy Welborn (Brenda), Brenda Fretwell (Gary), Dianne Ozbirn, Wayne Welborn (Dianne), Jona Welborn; grandchildren, Jason Welborn, Randy Welborn, Audrey Maggie Riddle, Tonya Fretwell, Cindy Taylor, Shonya Moore, Scarlett Ozbirn, Destin Ozbirn, Ivy Ozbirn, Tina Hawkins, Tony Welborn, Chris Ergle, Casey Lawler, Kayla Carpenter, Josh Quillen, Victoria Fretwell, Dylan Collins; 24 great-grandchildren and one soon to arrive; siblings, Charles Holden (Gwen), Mary Allen, Martha Mansell; and several nieces & nephews.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 02, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 03, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Rayburn Whitman officiating the service. The burial will be at Duncan Creek Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Jason Welborn, Randy Welborn, Tony Welborn, Chris Ergle, Casey Lawler, Josh Quillen, and Destin Ozbirn. The honorary pallbearer will be Glenn Johnson.
