Sarah Avalene Womack, age 81 of Estill Springs, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2022, at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro. She was born on December 18, 1940, in Coffee County, Tennessee, to the late Oscar Thurman and Ethel Jane (Taylor) Stone. Sarah retired from Wilson Sporting Goods where she worked in production. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Tullahoma and started a women’s Bible study after her retirement. In her spare time, you could find her shopping, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and on rainy days quilting or decorating her home. Her favorite thing was cooking wonderful meals so she could spend quality time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sarah will be remembered by her family and friends as a lady who was always smiling and never complained. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, John Thurman, Ruth Knight, Vera Mae Nicholson, Jean Elizabeth West and Nina Lois Steverson; and son-in-law, Tony Martin. Sarah is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Kenneth Womack; children, Melissa (Glen) Marlow, Lexie Fletcher and Keita Martin; grandchildren, Savannah Fletcher and Lexie Lee Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Jonah and Layla Fletcher; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Sarah will be held of Friday, May 13, 2022, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Juston Galloway officiating.
