Sara Frances Reese French was born August 27, 1929 in LaGrange, Georgia to Aaron Canada Reese and Elmira Ophelia Reese. She was married to Richard Blevins French in 1947 in Columbus, Georgia for 48 years until his death in 1995. They were blessed with one daughter, Kathy. After Richard’s death, Sara moved to Hartselle, Alabama to be near her daughter and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Robert “Jack” Reese.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Wesson (Bob), her granddaughter, Lauren Jenkins (Corey), and her two great granddaughters, Ellie and Cammie Jenkins.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Reese of Melbourne, Florida and cousins Jenelle Gray of Columbus, Georgia, Joyce O’keefe of Wedowee, Alabama, Dennis O’keefe of Hawks Haven, Missouri, Marsha Bridges of El Cajon, California and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle, Alabama and was very active in her church until recent years when health issues prevented it. She loved people and had many friends. She was known for an uncanny ability to remember birthdays and enjoyed sending cards every year. “Memommy” as she was affectionately known, loved her family and friends and enjoyed remaining connected with loved ones near and far. She also enjoyed Genealogy and researching family history.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mashburn and his staff, our precious personal caregivers, the staff at Center Well Home Health, and the team from Hospice of the Valley. Thank you for the love, compassion, and care shown to Mrs. French.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of the Valley, First Baptist Church of Hartselle, or your favorite charity.  Graveside Service will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, GA with Dr. Jeff Redmond officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00PM-4:00PM at the funeral home.
