Mrs. Sandra Shirey PepperSandra (Shirey) Aka Mimi Pepper, age 83 of Snellville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 30, 2024. A Visitation will be held July 3, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. A second Visitation will be held at 1:00 – 3:00 PM (CST) on July 5, 2024, at Scottsboro Funeral Home, 1502 County Park Road, Scottsboro, AL with a Graveside Service at 3:30 PM (CST) at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens, 28615 US-72, Hollywood, AL, with Keith Dorminey officiating. Sandra was a retired administrative assistant with the Veterans Administration. She was born in Section, AL on May 10, 1941. She lived in Scottsboro, AL for many years before moving to Atlanta, GA in 1983. She loved her Lord, her church, and her family. She was a member of Luxomni Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA and although she was unable to physically attend the past several years, she faithfully watched services online every Sunday she was able to. She loved her family with all her heart as well as her dog Sadie and her 2 pet birds. We often teased her that she loved her dog Sadie more than us. She was a huge sports fan and loved college football! She was a huge Alabama football fan and made sure everyone knew it, especially Georgia fans! She absolutely loved bantering about football and loved that she could share her passion of Alabama football with her grandson, Tyler. She and her youngest grandson, Justin, shared a special bond of pranking and picking on each other. She loved him even after he hit her directly in the eye with a frozen chicken nugget (the day after her cataract surgery). Even with her love of football, she had an even greater love for flowers and plants. She always wanted fresh flowers in her room and loved being able to see them every day. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ena (Carter) Shirey; and sister, Jo Helen Broyles. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kerri (Leann) & Tray McCarty, Snellville, GA; grandsons, Tyler and Justin McCarty, Snellville, GA; nephew, Eddie & Kim Broyles, Huntsville, AL; great niece, Katie Smith (Trent) of Asia; great nephew, Matthew Broyles (Rosie) of Huntsville, AL; great niece Joanna Broyles of Birmingham, AL as well as their children.
