Sandra Samples Bentley, 78, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 6, 2022.
Sandra was born May 23, 1943 at Huntsville Hospital to parents, Bea and Fay Samples. She grew up in Huntsville and was a proud graduate of the Huntsville High School Class of 1961. Sandra attended Auburn University where she met her husband of nearly 59 years, Dick Bentley of Columbus, Georgia. They were married April 5th, 1963.
In 1967, they relocated to Satellite Beach, Florida where they were a part of the growing space program at Cape Canaveral.
Sandra was a devout mother and wife, and an active volunteer within her community throughout her life. She was particularly passionate about girls’ softball and Auburn athletics. She and Dick returned to Huntsville in 1987 where she surrounded herself with family and childhood friends. She was a member of Building Church since 2007 where she hosted many small groups and gatherings.
In addition to her husband, Dick, Sandra is survived by her daughters, Beth Bentley Bollero, Donna Bentley Watkins, and Tricia Bentley Mattox (Greg); brother, Ty Samples; grandchildren, Justin Watkins, Hilary Watkins Dozier (Bryce), Katie Mattox (Isaac), Allison Mattox Cesmat (Ray), and Megan Bollero; and great-grandchildren, Piper and Wyatt Dozier. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Cummings Samples.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Spencer Beach officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
