Sandra Nutt Cleghorn, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed unexpectedly from this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Sandra was born on May 26, 1960, in Knoxville, TN. Growing up in Madison, TN, she and her family worshipped at Madison Church of Christ. While attending there, the Nutt family served as house parents in the Madison Church of Christ Children’s Home fostering multiple children over a span of 6 years.
Sandra had an angelic voice and participated in David Lipscomb’s Chorale as a First Soprano while attending there to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. During this time, she also was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota sorority and America’s Youth in Concert with whom she traveled to Eastern Europe and sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City. After receiving her college education, she and Eddie were married in 1982 and she began her teaching career in elementary education in Metro Nashville, where they made their home for 10 years. In 1986, John was born into their young home and Sandra’s world was complete. She devoted the rest of her life to raising a strong, Christian young man and keeping her older man on the straight and narrow, while also serving as his secretary after the family moved to Lawrenceburg to open Cleghorn Land Surveying.
She loved her Leoma Church of Christ family where she was a faithful member. She loved quietly and gently, often being seen and not heard, except when she was singing praises to God!!
