Our mother and MeMe, Sandra Marie Matthews Hodge, age 74, of Tuscumbia, was transported to her heavenly home and eternal life on Sunday, October 01, 2023.
Sandra was a devoted wife to John, great mother to Chris and Hollie, and a loving MeMe to many, not just her own family. She was a member of Barton Baptist Church. She was the best cook ever and her home was always open and inviting to everyone. She worked as a caregiver, trying to take care of the ones she loved, especially her children and her grandchildren. She always carried her family in prayer to our Heavenly Father. She will be remembered for her love of the beach, the mountains, antique stores, and her collection of chickens. To know Sandra or better known as MeMe, you would know she was always happy with “just a little something”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Newman Hodge and parents, BC & Marie (Holloway) Matthews.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Chris Hodge (LaShawn), Hollie Rea (Lymann); grandchildren, Tyler Hodge (Whitney), Tori Hodge (Kevin), Shaynna Hodge, Alex Prince (Alyssia), Caleb Rea; great-grandchildren, Reid Hodge, Sophie Hodge, Blaklee Eurich, Briggs Eurich, Brinlee Prince, Braylee Prince; brother, Don Matthews (Anita); in-laws, Jane & Cecil Denton, J.W. & Cyndi Hodge; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The visitation will be 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 04, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel with Bro. Micah Booth officiating the service. The burial will be at Jonesboro Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Tyler Hodge, Alex Prince, Caleb Rea, Brandon Bullion, Kevin Eurich, and Keith Coan. The honorary pallbearer will be Reid Hodge.
