Sandra Kay Fortner, age 68, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sandra, better known as “MawMaw” worked at Dollar General in Phil Campbell for over 12 years. She loved her job and being able to see all of her friends. She was most selfless person ever, always taking care of everyone else. She loved unconditionally all her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Derek Quillen, Chris Fortner (Pam); grandchildren, Heather Willis, Kayla Quillen, Kiley Fortner; great-grandchild, Milahni Alvarado; brother, Tommy Raper (Cheryl); best friend, Kim Farley; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded by her husband, John Fortner; great-grandson, Memphis Alvarado; parents, William Loyd & Noreen (Bankston) Raper; infant sister, Sherry Raper; and mother of her grandchildren, Tamara Willis.
The visitation will be 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 01, 2023 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the funeral starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Liberty Hill community. The pallbearers will be Chris Fortner, Mauricio Alvarado, Rodney Lindley, and Tommy Raper.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses, as well as Hospice of North Alabama who took care of Sandra. Also, a special thanks to Kim Farley for your love, care, and friendship.
