Sandra Kay Darby Wood, 78, resident of Walnut passed away peacefully December 28, 2023, at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth.
Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Woods life be 1 PM Monday January 1, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Willie Crowley officiating. Visitation will be 11 AM until Service Time on Monday January 1, 2024, at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery in Walnut.
Born December 29, 1944, in Penola County, MS, Mrs. Woods was the daughter of the late Jessie Houston and Jesse Darby. She received her education from Pope County Public School System was employed with Batesville Casket Company, the Hane Corporation, and owned a seamstress shop for many years before her retirement. Although she worked other places her most memorable title will be that of a true homemaker. She grew and canned her on vegetables, always made sure supper was on the table by 4 PM and spent many hours caring for her precious family.
A Christan and loving “Nanny”, Mrs. Woods favorite pastimes included cooking, sewing, watching her favorite television show, CSI, tending to her beautiful flower garden, and admiring the hummingbirds. She loved her family dearly and her door was always open to anyone in need. Her grandchildren meant everything, and she never missed the opportunity to share time with them. Mrs. Cook was a thoughtful sister, caring mother, devoted “Nanny”, and faithful friend who will truly be missed.
Those left to cherish her memories include, one daughter, Sandra Beavers, one step daughter, Dawn Crum, seven sisters, Nancy Ginn, Hellen Pitcock, Linda Mills, Reba Polson, Kathy Tribble, Betty Perry, and Tina Woodard, two brothers, Casey and Nolan Darby, eight grandchildren, Mary Worley, Joseph Tillman, Kristan Beavers, Shelby Robbins, Amber Crum, Adrianna Clemmer, Will Woods, and Jesse Beavers, ten great grandchildren, Michael Worley, Zander Worley, Aria Worley, Kaylynn Watkins, Brayden Tillman, Jaylan Crum, Elana Crum, Annistyn Clemmer, Lily Clemmer, Katherine Robbins, and Marcus Cornelius, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Ledord Wood, one brother, Bill Darby, three sisters, Melissa Forbes, Jo Milan, and Susan Cook, and a grandson, Wesley Beavers.
