Sandra Joyce Taylor Reichart, 74, transformed from this life to the life eternal on Saturday, November 25, 2017 after an extended struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Joyce was the youngest of 9 children born to Willie W. Taylor and Lillie Mae Johnson Taylor. Born February 21, 1943 in Tupelo, she graduated from Shannon High School. She married Chief Warrant Officer 3 Kenneth Reichart (U. S. Navy, Retd.) in Memphis on Nov. 22, 1961. She was a military wife and mother for 27 years traveling all over the USA and abroad. With the Tupelo area as their homebase, she first worked as a Phlebotomist at North Mississippi Medical Center and returned to work at the Medical Center for 14 years after military retirement. A Godly woman who read and studied her Bible daily, Joyce was a longtime member of Palestine Baptist Church near Nettleton. She loved all genres of music including gospel, bluegrass, country and played the guitar, banjo and sang beautifully. She adored her family and was a doting grandmother to her 9 grands and 4 great grandchildren. She spent the last 7 years as a resident of Countrywood Manor/Lakeview Place where she was beloved and well cared for. The family expresses gratitude to the staff there for their encouragement and watch care of Joyce.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Mike Brazeal officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 PM-7PM today (Mon. 11/27/17) and from 10 AM-service time Tuesday all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Survivors include her 4 daughters, Sherry Smith of Tupelo; Kim Santore of Gloucester, VA., Lisa Bierman (Hank) of Tupelo and Patti Tackett (Chris) of Mantachie. 9 grandchildren, Kenny Smith, Amanda, Tony and Joshua Santore, Meghan Parker, Sarah and Mallory Bierman and Morgan and Taylor Tackett. 4 great grandchildren, Hannah, Gabriel, KenLeigh and T.J., and her primary caregiver, niece, and adopted daughter, Linda Poe of Palmetto. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth on January 28, 2002, and one great granddaughter, Emma Leigh.
