Funeral Services for Mrs. Sandra Jean Wideman, age 68 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Andrew Luker and Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wideman passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the Clay County Hospital. She was born and raised in Ashland all of her life, was a 1974 graduate of Clay County High School, and worked 6 years at Russell Manufacturing. Being a Wife, Mother and Homemaker brought her joy and purpose, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Wideman often babysat for her family when she could, and was also a caretaker for several family members, helping them with food and bills. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas, because she would be able to spend time with her family. Mrs. Wideman was described as selfless, family oriented, and always strived to put others before herself.
Mrs. Wideman is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ronnie Wideman of Ashland; three sons: Scottie Wideman (Jessica) of Lincoln, Brian Wideman and Patrick Wideman, both of Ashland; two granddaughters: Abigail and Isabella Wideman, both of Ashland; her mother, Polly Hickman of Ashland; two sisters: Rebecca Mitchell (Franklin) of Ashland and Elizabeth Reaves (David) of Talladega; plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert F. Hickman; and her grandparents: Tip and Vista Hickman and Arthur and Sleety Crabtree.
Active Pallbearers will be Cody Hilyer, Colby Hilyer, Evan Miller, Jeremy Reaves, Chris Reaves, and Tim Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will Jessica Wideman, Abigail Wideman, Isabella Wideman, Kara Hubbard, Erin Perry, and Katelyn Shook.
Her visitation will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland beginning at 12:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
