Sandra Bowen, 71, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 25, at UAB Hospital. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, and loved serving with her church family. She also showed love to her immediate and extended family by praying and playing a vital role in their lives. She spent 30 years as a Media Specialist, including teaching in Athens city schools.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Velma G. Morton and Walter B. Garrick.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Bowen; daughters, Christi Voigt (Richard) and Rebecca Hogg (Martin); grandchildren, Emily and Adam Voigt, Caleb and Katelyn Hogg; and sisters, Carolyn Stern and Sharon Garrick.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church sanctuary with Reverend Roger Jenkins and Reverend Martin Hogg officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
