Sandra Ann James Hester
Sunrise January 15, 1947 Sunset June 13, 2024
Amazed and perplexed, two powerful words that hold great significance. Do we not often focus on worry, stress, and fear in uncertain times, rather than being amazed and perplexed by what God is doing? On Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the early morning hours, we were both of those things as we said our earthly goodbyes to our mom at the sunset of her life exactly six months after our dad.
Sandra’ sunrise of life began on January 15, 1947. She graduated high school and business school and married the love of her life. Sandra was a devoted and loving wife to Dwain, and a kind and caring mother and grandmother. She took great pride in taking care of Dwain and her family and always making sure to keep a clean house, as cleanliness is next to Godliness. She was a devout Christian who loved her Jesus. She enjoyed the simple things in life, sewing, flowers, laughing with her family, and in the last few years, she always enjoyed a good cold milkshake.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Olen Dwain Hester; parents, Warren & Annie Mae (Holcombe) James; and her baby sister, June James who died at birth.
She leaves to treasure her memories, her son, Greg Hester (wife, Shunda); daughter, Renee Colburn (husband, Scott); grandchildren, Tyler Hester (wife, Skylar), Mikayla Hester, Zakery Colburn; great-grandchildren, Dixie Hester, Chevy Hester, Mathew Hester; siblings, Ray James (wife, Jo), Brenda Carol Duncan; several nieces & nephews and her special four-legged companion, Daisy.
The visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Jeremy Seal speaking at the service. The burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens. The pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Terrace Manor Nursing & Rehab; as well as the staff of Amedysis Hospice for your love and care of our mom and grandmother.
Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
