Samuel Thomas Wrather, Sr., 91, retired Electrician for Union Carbide and resident of Columbia, died Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Richard VanCleave officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M.  – 7:00 P.M. with a Masonic service following at the funeral home.

Born June 26, 1932 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Horace Palmer Wrather and the late Gola Kate Jones Wrather. On May 23, 1952, he married Willie Mai Dawson Wrather who preceded him in death November 10, 2022. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, camping, and raising his garden. Mr. Wrather was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors  his sons, Samuel Thomas (Kathy) Wrather, Jr. of Florence, Alabama; Horace Lee (Shirley) Wrather of Columbia; Terry Wayne (Karen) Wrather of Columbia; Daniel Keith (Gina) Wrather of Columbia; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Klinzing of Columbia; Shannon (Scott) Matthews of North Carolina; Benjamin (Kristin) Wrather of Columbia; Angela (Kevin) Rose of Columbia; Brian Wrather of Nashville; great grandchildren, Miranda (Eric) Lenvinson of Mt. Juliet; Jacob Wyath of Columbia; Kadence Wrather of Alabama; Sam Wrather of Columbia; Lila Wrather of Columbia; Murphy Rose of Columbia; June Rose of Columbia; Jackson Meaders of North Carolina; and sister, Callie Brown of North Carolina.

Active pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers include members of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Jeff Hardison, and Ray Howell.
