Samuel Preston “Sammy” Sumner, 62 of Bessemer, passed away Monday July 29, 24.
He was a longtime resident of the Burnwell community. Sammy was a graduate of Dora High School, class of 1980, where he played quarterback for the Dora Bulldogs. He was also an avid Alabama football fan.
Funeral services will be Saturday August 3, 24 at 12:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ray Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. There is no public visitation. Everyone is invited to attend services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Wanda Sumner.
Survivors include his sons, Mason Sumner and wife Macey and John David Sumner and wife Annabelle; grandchildren, Elaina, Banks and Miller Sumner; siblings, Cathy Thomas (Gary), Donna Wilhite (Randy), David Sumner (Eliana) and Danny Sumner; several other relatives and many friends.
