Samuel “J.R.” Earnest Fortenberry Jr., age 90 of Lebanon TN, went to Heaven on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He lived a long and happy life and brought joy to everyone he met.

Family members who preceded him to Heaven are wife Debra Fortenberry, son Samuel Earnest Fortenberry III, mother Lilly Mae Fortenberry, dad Samuel Earnest Fortenberry, and sister Verna Mae Horne. He is survived by children Regina Logsdon, Pam Smithson, and Teresa Plenge, and nephews Steve Horne and Terry Horne.

J.R. was the founder of Fortenberry Construction Company which was known best for the construction of Raceway fuel stations throughout the United States.

We’d like to thank those special “angels of mercy” that provided daily care for several years: the staff of Hearthside Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice Care.

The Celebration of Life is Friday, October 4, 2024, 2 p.m., at Hearthside Senior Living. Reverend Paul Leftrick will be officiating.
