Samuel D. “Sammy” Sherrill was born on November 13, 1951, in Wayne County, TN to his father the late Daniel Sherrill and mother Gladys Martin Sherrill. Sherrill was raised in the Collinwood area and grew to love the outdoors as one of his favorite hobbies was fishing in the rivers and lakes surrounding his community. Later in life he would spend his adult years raising his three sons, of whom he was proud of and would remain a constant leader in their lives. He also had a great love for old cars as he enjoyed watching a project vehicle become like new. He was a man of many interests, he also enjoyed riding the Natchez Trace during the autumn months seeing all the beautiful leaves changing colors. His relationship with God was also a constant in his life being a former member of the Church of Christ in Waynesboro and then later becoming a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Linden. Still nothing, in his life, could compare to the love he had for his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Samuel D. Sherrill passed from this life at his home in Linden, TN making his stay on this earth some 72 years, 11 months and 22 days.
