Samuel Austeen Murphy – Obituary

Samuel Austeen Murphy, 83, Russellville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Russellville Hospital.

He lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a member of New Hope Methodist Church.

Austeen served in the Armed forces in Korea where he was wounded and received the following medals, Purple Heart, Occupational Medal (Japan), Overseas bar, the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star and United Nations Service Medal.

He served on the Franklin County Electric Board for 34 years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013, 2 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Brother James Anderton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 2 p.m.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Charlsie Duboise Murphy; daughter, Janet Miller and husband, Rick; son, Joe D. Murphy and wife, Pamela, all of Russellville; grandchildren, Amber Fay Murphy Parris and husband, John, Melissa (Missy) and Malinda (Mindy) Miller.

He was preceded in death by parents, Aaron and Birdy Murphy; brother, A. B. Murphy; sisters, Ora Bell Rickard and Nora Brown; four infant siblings.

Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, will be directing.
