Sammy Tex Ballew, 75 of Arab passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Colonial Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City. He was born June 26, 1948, in Arab the son of Samuel Thomas Ballew and Geraldine Snow Ballew. He was retired from Redstone Arsenal and was a member of the Arab Church of Christ, having accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was honorably discharged from the US Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.
He is survived by a sister: Diane Ballew Burden; nephew: Wayne Burden, III (Donna); niece: Crystal LaGow (Scott); great nieces and nephews: Bryce Burden, Reagan Burden, Presley Reeling, Kaden Scott, Koy Scott and Bobby Head; special friend: Sandera Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents: Samuel and Geraldine Ballew; brother: Gene Ballew.
Graveside Service with military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Hebron Church of Christ Cemetery with Chaplain Rick Collins of Pell City officiating, Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hebron Church of Christ.
