Sammy Earl Felker, 90, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023. A veteran of the Army National Guard, Sammy was born January 10, 1933, to the late Sam and Edna Williams Felker in Corinth, Mississippi.
A 1952 graduate of Corinth High School, Sammy was a natural athlete, playing football, baseball, and basketball for his beloved Warriors. He would continue his education at the University of Arizona, graduating in 1969 then starting his career with the Federal Highway Administration where he would continue to work until his retirement in 1997. Sammy enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, fishing, and going to Senior Citizens Homes.
He is survived by his children, Joan (Michael) Thornton of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Dr John (Fegal) Felker of New Buffalo, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Felker of Brownsville, TN; a brother, Sydney Felker; grandchildren, Mattie Gayhart Kaysinger, Timothy (Elizabeth) Felker, and Quintin Gayhart Kaysinger; and a great grandchild, Sebastian Felker.
In addition to his parents, Sam and Edna Williams Felker, Sammy was preceded in death by his wives, Marilyn Felker and Liz Felker; his sister, Ann Jensen; and brothers, Jewel “Babe” Felker and Billy Dan Felker.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held Monday, January 8, 2023 beginning at ten o’clock in the morning, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Kossuth, Mississippi with Kirk Jones officiating. The family has entrusted the care of the services with McPeters Funeral Directors in Corinth, Mississippi.
