Sam Norris, Sr., 80, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 from the North MS Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born in Houston, MS on July 14, 1944, to his parents, Thomas Avery and Gertrude Hurst Norris. He graduated from West Point High School in 1962 and from Mississippi State University in 1967 with a degree in Business. He joined the United States Air Force in 1967 and was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Captain in 1973. He worked the majority of his career in retail manufacturing, and retired from Reeds Manufacturing Company in Tupelo. Sam had a love for hunting, especially upland bird hunting, exceeding only by his love for his Brittany Spaniels.

Services will be 12 PM Monday, September 2, 2024,, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brett McKee officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Moore Norris of Saltillo; his daughter, Samantha T. Cahng of Greenville, SC; his son, Samuel T. Norris, Jr. (Christine) of Saint Simons Island, GA; his stepsons, John David Rogers (Mary Shae) and Patrick Rogers all of Tupelo; his sisters, Barbara Bryan (Tommy) of West Point and Melba Hollingsworth of Columbus; his brother, Thomas Norris, Jr of Washington; his grandchildren, Samuel T. Norris, III and Elizabeth Norris of Saint Simons Island, GA, Alex Rogers of Austin, Tx and Catherine Rogers of Tupelo; many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Norris, Phillip Booth, Al Smith, David Lewis, Mark Grantham, Mike Shelton, Woody Pickle, Charlie Brett, Chris Evans and Burl Hicks.

Visitation will be 11 – 12 Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to thank the staff in the Hospice Unit at the North MS Medical Center for their excellent care.
