Salvatore Eugene Lo Galbo, 78, of Florence passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at ECM Hospital. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Steve Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
A member of Woodmont Baptist Church, Mr. Lo Galbo was a licensed architect and Gideon. He also served as a missionary with Mission to the World in Chiba Japan for 4 years. Mr. Lo Galbo retired from the US Navy after 27 years. He was stationed in Little Creek, VA, Norfolk, VA, Washington, DC, Monterey, CA, and Yokosuka, Japan. He served during the Vietnam War, Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virginia M. Lo Galbo; children, Salvator Eugene Lo Galbo, Jr. (Holly), Dominick Edgar Lo Galbo (Martha), Gina Marie Wilson (Craig), Anthony Paul Lo Galbo (Donna), Maria Lo Galbo Albin, Kristin Pauline Basham (Gary); 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sister, Paula Visconti (Anthony); and three nephews, Joseph, Brian and Eric.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons or Mission to the World.
