Sally Betty Chunn, age 85, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Lula Wrather Oliver, her husband of fifty-one years until his death on June 16, 2004, Logan Chunn, and her son, Eugene Hargrove, who died while serving in Vietnam.
Sally is survived by her brother: Horace (Donna) Oliver of Dover, Tennessee and her sister: Carlene Booth of Nashville, Tennessee; her beloved children: Jan Young of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Ella (Kenneth) Marsh of Cottontown, Tennessee, Debbie (Ricky) Lovell of Columbia, Tennessee and Dennis (Brenda) Chunn of Columbia, Tennessee; eight grandchildren: Tracy (Sharon) Harris, Chris (LeAnn) Harris, Joshua (Lindsey) Sullivan, Brannon (Renae) Morton, Charlie (Crystal) Cecil, Gene (Patti) Morton, Chase Chunn and Chance Chunn; thirteen great-grandchildren: Lauren, Allison, Catherine, Caroline, Harris, Mathew, Michael, Jacob, Wesley Harris, Megan Morton, Jaden Cecil, Sheamus Sullivan, Joslin Sullivan and Lauren Dennis.
She and her husband, Logan, were longtime residents of the Pottsville community. She was a member of the Berea Church of Christ for many years. Sally was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She was dearly loved by her children and grandchildren who remember her as a sweet and gentle lady. She was a seamstress, having worked at Dixie Manufacturing as well as Stork Town. Additionally, she worked as a waitress at Lucille’s Restaurant.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chunn will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Carl May and Bro. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in the Shires Cemetery in the Pottsville Community. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Tracy Harris, Chris Harris, Brannon Morton, Gene Morton, Charlie Cecil, Josh Sullivan, Chase Chunn and Chance Chunn will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the nursing staff of the Step Down Unit of Maury Regional Medical Center and Dr. John Simmons.
