Sadie Pearl Parrish, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully at her home in Jackson, Tennessee on January 13, 2024. She was born on July 1, 1936, in Jackson to loving parents, Marion M. and Sadie Wilson.
Sadie’s academic journey led her to J.B. Young High School in Bemis, Tennessee, where she excelled academically and graduated as the valedictorian of her class in 1954. Her commitment to learning and hard work was evident even at a young age. Education played a significant role in shaping her character and laying the foundation for a successful future.
Following her graduation, Sadie embarked on a career as a secretary in various businesses and ended her final 24 years with the Madison County Personnel Office, retiring in in 2006. With an exceptional work ethic and attention to detail, she became an invaluable asset to her colleagues and superiors.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sadie had many passions that brought joy to her life. She found solace and contentment through growing beautiful flowers and maintaining a flourishing garden. In addition to gardening, Sadie possessed remarkable sewing skills and her creative flair extended beyond fabrics as she also enjoyed fishing, spending tranquil days by the water’s edge.
She actively participated in several community organizations and groups that held great importance to her. For many years, she attended West Jackson Baptist Church and Highland Park Baptist Church where she found solace and spiritual connection. As an active member of Eastern Star and the V.F.W., Sadie fostered deep friendships based on shared values, camaraderie, and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
Sadie treasured her relationships with family and friends, cherishing the moments spent together. Fred, her beloved husband of 48 years was her unwavering rock whose love and support carried her through life’s joys and challenges. Together, they created a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. Sadie was a devoted mother to Michael G. Carter (Vickie), Teresa Whiteford (Mike), Linda Seaman (Byron), and step-daughter Monica Taylor. Her affectionate nature extended to her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life.
Because of inclement weather, a decision will be made later concerning a graveside service at Highland Memorial Garden.
