Ms. Sadie Alamtine Davis For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  

2 Corinthians 5:1

Sadie Davis was a native of Selma, AL.  She was born on September 23, 1950, to the late Mr. William Henry and Mrs. Henrietta Davis.  She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Elbethel Missionary Baptist Church, Selma, AL. She graduated from R.B. Hudson High School, Class of 1968, Selma, AL.  After high school, she relocated to Huntsville, AL to continue her education and reside with her older brother and family.

She attended Union Hill CPCA Church with her family and later joined First Missionary Baptist Church in 1986 and she remained a faithful member until her death. She served as a Lay Minister of Congregational Care and Chairperson of the Pulpit Committee and loved her Sunday School Class, and also a former member of Alpha Omega Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

Sadie worked in the Library at Alabama A&M University 48 years as the Coordinator of Circulation and retired in July 2024. She was passionate about her work, the students, and faculty and impacted many young lives in this role.

Preceding her in death was her parents: Mr. William Henry and Mrs. Henrietta Davis; brothers: Willie George Davis, Sammie Lee Davis, and Jerry Davis; sister, Juanita Britt; and nephew, Arnold Britt. She was the youngest and last living of her siblings.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories: one sister-in-law, Indiana McGuire Davis, Selma, AL; nephews and nieces: Michael (Rekena) Davis, Madison, AL, Juan (Edith) Britt, Cleveland, OH, Alvin (Kim) McGuire, Selma, AL, Geraldine Givan, Selma, AL,  Gary Wayne Davis, Huntsville, AL, Eric (Valorie) Davis, Meridianville AL, Jerry Davis Jr., Selma, AL, and Kristi Davis, Tacoma, WA, many loving great nephews and nieces, cousins, friends, classmates, neighbors, and former co-workers.

She treasured two very dear friends of greater than 50 years, Patricia Stewart, and     Phyllis Sims both of Huntsville, AL.

During her illness, she fell in love with two fury companions “Sugar” and “Kooper”, and they provided great companionship.

A life well lived. Rest on Sadie till we meet again.  Love, the family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 at the First Missionary Baptist Church (3509 Blue Spring Road, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Reverend Carolyn Landry officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Memorial Gardens. Ms. Davis will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
