Mrs. Sabrina Baker Crayton was born on September 29, 1963, in Huntsville, Alabama to the proud parents of Roosevelt Baker (now deceased) and Barbara Ann Baker. However, as the saying goes “It takes a village to raise a child” and Sabrina Baker Crayton had the privilege of being raised by a loving “village.” She spent countless hours with her loving grandparents Lucille Powell (Paternal) as well as John and Teria Lankford (Maternal).
Sabrina is survived by a loving husband of 10 years, James Crayton. In addition, she leaves behind three children, Mia Nicole Jones (Ricky) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, LaMar Jermaine Green (Tonya) of Germantown, TN, and Jerome Tremaine Green (Diana) of Marietta, GA. Sabrina also has three sisters, Cassandra Robinson (Don) of Huntsville, AL, Aries Webb (Mike) of McKinney, TX, and Tonya Baker of Norfolk, VA. Sabrina was married for 24 years to Mark Anthony Green who preceded her in death.
“Grandma Sabrina,” as she was lovingly called, had 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Their names are Briana, Kiana, Ricky Jr., Ethan, Cayman, Landon, Maceo, and Damien. Sabrina Baker Crayton was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Time and space do not allow us to mention all the uncles, aunts, cousins, and the like that made up her very large Baker, Lankford, Green, and Crayton families. She dearly loved them all.
Sabrina had many friends from the Northwood Community and the Huntsville area, as well as J.O. Johnson High School where she graduated in 1981. She excelled at gymnastics at an early age and this led to her love of cheerleading. She dearly enjoyed her time at Johnson High and often reminisced about the joys of performing as one of the Jaguarettes and cheerleading teams. Sabrina received formal business training from North Alabama College of Commerce and used those skills to fuel her 25-year career with NASA located on Redstone Arsenal as an Accounting Clerk.
In 1989 Sabrina made a very important decision in her life when she dedicated herself to Jehovah God and to follow in the footsteps of Christ Jesus as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Sabrina had an intense love for people, and this was demonstrated by her desire to speak about God’s Kingdom being the only permanent hope for mankind. Beginning in 2015, Sabrina volunteered her time and resources as Regular Pioneer in the North Jackson Tennessee Congregation. As a Pioneer she taught others about bible truths like the one found at Isaiah 33:24 where God promises, “No resident will say I am sick.” She proved faithful in this hope through her last day. She was truly loved by her congregation.
James, Sabrina and the family especially loved the promised mentioned in God’s word at Revelation 21: 3, 4 which says, “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say, look the tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, no pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Yes, Sabrina Baker Crayton believed this with all of her being, and we look forward to seeing her again when she, nor anyone else will suffer from the pangs of death.
Sabrina passed away peacefully the morning of July 28th surrounded by loved ones. She will be deeply missed, but her love, faith, and positive influence has had a lasting impact on the lives of those around her.
Funeral service will be announced later.
