Mrs. Ruth McCowan Adams age 86 of Athens, AL passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Ruth was born on June 2, 1932 in Limestone County to James Wiley McCowan and Ethel Olivia Yarbrough McCowan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Adams; four brothers, Lester, Marvin, Harrison, and Sonny McCowan and five sisters, Lacy, Gladys, Lorene, Essie and Myrtice.
Mrs. Ruth is survived by her son Terry Adams and wife Sue of Athens, AL; daughter, Pam Adams Davis of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Mickie Brackeen, Brent Adams and Jeremy Davis; great-grandchildren, Matthew Logan Davis, Claire Brackeen, Callie Brackeen, Gavin Wales and Jordan Wales; sisters, Reba Emberton and Betty “Janie” Johnson; several nieces, nephews, family and many friends.
Mrs. Ruth loved her church and was a faithful worker. She was always willing to help with any task at church and help out in her community. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers.
Services for Mrs. Ruth will be 1:00PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Sardis Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Keenum officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 -12:45 prior to the service. Burial will be in Sardis Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brent Adams, Jeremy Davis, Roger Nave, Donald VanDyke, Curtis Usery and Roy Usery. Honorary Pallbearers are Mickie Brackeen, Floyd Adams and Lloyd Adams.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the Hospice of Limestone County nurses, social worker, bath ladies, sitters and everyone who helped in any way. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Hospice of Limestone County.
