Ruth Jones MitchellRuth Jones Mitchell, 99, peacefully went to her heavenly home on October 7, 2022. Ruth was born July 8, 1923 to the late Jennie Bell Amos Jones and Orah Hildreth Jones of the Taft Community.

She married Eugene Mitchell in 1941 and moved to the Kellys Creek community where she resided for over 80 years. Ruth was devoted to her husband, children and their families and delighted in spending time with them. Ruth was devout Christian and member of Elkton Baptist church where she faithfully and joyfully served in many capacities. She was also a member of the Elkton Home Demonstration Club. She was employed at Serben and Maremont Gabriel. Following her retirement her tireless Christian example shined through as she worked as a caregiver in her community for many years.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, needlework and cooking. She was known for cooking delicious meals and baking from scratch. Sharing her baked goods and passing down family recipes brought her much joy. She loved flowers with roses being her absolute favorite. She enjoyed front porch sitting, admiring her flowers, and waving to those passing by.

A woman of faith and the heart of the Mitchell family, Ruth is survived by her son, Phillip (Debra) Mitchell of Elkton, TN; daughter, Connie (Joe) Gibson of Pulaski, TN; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Mitchell; son, Harold Mitchell; and grandson, Daniel Gibson.

Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2022 from 12 Noon until 2 PM with Memorial at 2 PM at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL with Bro. Chris Bolt officiating. Interment will be at Malone Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Elkton Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Mitchell, Derrick Mitchell, Clay Mitchell, Matt Abbott, David Mitchell Gibson and Wilson Roberts.
