On April 22, 2024, Ruth earthly journey ended, to receive a reward of eternal rest.
Ruth Ann Schuster was born on April 5, 1955, to Clara Mae (Ada) Schuster and George Melvin Schuster in Anchorage, Alaska. Both preceded her in death. Ruth enjoyed visits from her sister, Georgia, who also preceded her in death.
Ruth joined her ST. John’s Community Service family in 2002. She was non-verbal, but had a unique way of communicating with others. Ruth had a great love for her housemate and got a great kick from laughing at her, which was Ruth’s way of showing her great admiration for her.
Ruth was a loveable person and all the staff that came in contact with her, really enjoyed caring for her and ensuring that she was properly cared for. She enjoyed all her staff but had a special connection, with her long-termed staff (Valerie Calhoun, Catina Crisp and Bertha Brannon). Those who were familiar with Ruth, knew she had a great love for her Home Manager, Valerie Calhoun.
Ruth looked forward to Valerie coming to the home, and would light up, because she could expect hugs, a kiss and her favorite Candy, Tootsie Roll Pops. Ruth loved looking in the mirror as Catina brushed her hair. She loved watching church services with her staff, Bertha Brannon. Also, she enjoyed van rides on pretty days and listening to music.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, Her SJCS family; her Conservator, Ms. Angela Neely; Independent Support Coordinator, Toni White; Nurse Case Manager Charlene Lenegar.
A graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt, TN. Friends will gather in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors earlier that morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. for a visitation.
Ruth will be greatly missed.
