Russell Owen Lambert, Jr.,74 of Florence, Alabama passed away on June 22, 2023. Russ was born on January 17, 1949 to Freida and Russell Lambert, Sr. He was a member of Stony Point Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He was also a long-time member of Stewartsville Church of Christ and served as an elder there as well. He was a graduate of Muscle Shoals High School and David Lipscomb College.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cathy Haddock Lambert. He is also survived by his sons, Russ Lambert, III (Emily), Will Lambert (Christi); daughter, Katie Hooie (Daniel); bonus children, Wes Hall (Erin), Bridgett Flynn (Lee); grandchildren, Russell Lambert IV “Reese” (Kaylee), Ali Waddell (John Tucker), Lynnsey Beth Lambert, Madalyn, Lane, Jenny, James, and Ashley Lambert, Maggie Gotcher (Marc), Anna Kate, Carley, and Sophie Hooie, Jake and Hadley Hall, Boston and Weslie Flynn; great-granddaughter, Margot Gooch; and sister, Judy Lambert.

He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Lynn McCreary Lambert; and parents, Russell and Freida Lambert.

Russ retired from TVA where he worked as an economist. He also worked at Ford Motor Company as a machinist, at Oakwood Furniture as a plant manager, and was a professor at Northwest Shoals. He enjoyed working with his hands and loved his tools. He loved sports, especially when they involved his grandchildren and Auburn football.

Russ was a man of faith and shared his faith with others through teaching, mission work, and the way he lived his life.  He traveled to Antigua and Africa as part of a mission team from Cross Point Church of Christ and Partners for Africa. Family and friends were important to Russ.  He never hesitated to express his love through hugs and encouraging words.

A celebration of his life will be held at Stony Point on Saturday, June 24. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 with a memorial service at 11:30. The service will be officiated by Jim Aston, Dorian Flynn, and Brad Adcock. Memorial donations may be made to Partners 4 Africa.

Honorary pallbearers are Clay Holliday, Taylor Holliday, Terry Holliday, John Phillips, and his grandsons.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Andrew Rouse and Greg and Leanne Scott for their devoted care to him.
