Russell Gilmore Tarpley Russell Gilmore Tarpley, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on July 3, 2023, at the age of 94 at NHC Pulaski, TN. Born on August 6, 1928, he lived a remarkable life filled with love, family, and a passion for the outdoors.

Over the course of his 65-year marriage, which began on March 30, 1958, Gilmore and his wife, Marie Angus Tarpley, shared countless cherished memories. He and Marie opened their hearts and home and adopted three children, and cared
one foster child. Gilmore will forever be remembered as a devoted father and was honored with the title of Father of the Year in 1968. His dedication and love for his family knew no bounds.

A skilled entrepreneurial contractor for 54 years, he took great pride in his work. He was known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature. He especially loved sharing his passions with his grandkids and great-grandkids, creating lasting bonds and teaching them valuable life lessons.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 7th, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at 10:00am in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The burial will take place in New Zion Cemetery in Pulaski, TN.

Gilmore is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Virgie (Pinkleton) Tarpley, as well as his siblings; sisters Mary Fox, Edith Porter, and brother Tom Tarpley; and his daughter-in-law, Pamela Joy Tarpley.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, his sons, Gerald Wayne Tarpley and Scott Patrick Tarpley, and his daughter, Shannon Larhea (Donny) Porter.

Russell’s memory will forever be cherished by his surviving grandchildren: Tabatha (Daniel) Berry, Misty (Jeremy) Jones, Lauren Porter, Brittney (Ryan) Halbrooks, and Caytlin Porter. He was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy and laughter: Skylar (Katheryn), Steven, Cayden, Shelby, Addison, Jayden, Braxton, Ella, Mackenzie, Kayla, Xander, Brelynn, Willow, and Rowynn.

Many nieces and nephews also survive.
