Rufus Jerome “Jerry” West, age 79, passed away Nov. 3, 2017. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. at Sunny Home Cemetery, 111 County Highway 51, Haleyville, Alabama, with Bill Newman officiating.
Jerry was born and raised in Haleyville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the Alabama Department of Revenue as a field deputy. Jerry was a member of Grace Life Church of the Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Jerry’s great love was for his children and grandchildren.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Denver and Lorene Barnett West; brothers, Russell, Marshall, Merle, Billy, and Don West; sisters, Yvonne Bradford, Sue Akers, and Mary Lou West; and his beloved daughter-in-law, Bridgett West.
Survivors include his children, Jeri Michele Horton (Butch) and Mike West, and grandchildren, Joshua Michael Turner, Jami Madison Turner, Janie Beth West, and Emily Anne West.
