Funeral for Rufus Daniel Nix, age 85, of Somerville will be Monday, October 13, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown Service Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Lewis officiating and burial in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Nix, who died Saturday, October 11, 2014, was born October 16, 1928, to Wyatt Joseph Nix and Mary Louise Howard Nix. Mr. Nix retired from Fruehauf, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Somerville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents of Vinemont; wife, Dorothy Garrison Nix and nine siblings.
Survivors include one stepson, David Knighten (Anita); one step-daughter, Carol Cuip; three step-granddaughters, Barbra Kellum (Steve), Tracy Ratliff (Mike) and Stephanie Cupp (Zaine); two step-grandsons, Jeff Vice (Tonya Curtis), Nick Cuip, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Boone Livingston, John Livingston, Kerry Rachel, Brad Vice, Nick Cuip and Nathan Fielder.
