Rufus Chester Harvell, 79, passed away on August 14, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Alcorn County on January 4, 1945 to the late Floyd and Jewel Jeffries Harvell. He was a graduate of Corinth High School and obtained his associates degree from Northeast Community College. He retired as the maintenance supervisor at World Color. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and anything Mississippi State.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dora Harvell; daughters, Michelle Stephens and Rhonda Kelly; grandchildren, Codey Mitchell and Avery Litton (Allen); great-grandchildren, Emmy, Mitchell, Leighton and AnneBlaire; brothers, Terry Harvell (Peggy), Ricky Harvell (Sandy), William Harvell (Laconda); sisters, Vickie Wallin (David); Gail Moore (Barry); sister-in-law, Lisa Burns Harvell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie and Thomas Harvell and 2 infant siblings.
A gathering of friends and family will be announced at a later date.
