Rudie Jeane Ellingson Hood – Obituary

Rudie Jeane Ellingson Hood, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home March 3, 2017, with family by her side.  She was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee.  She grew up on a farm on Long Branch and graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1947.  Rudie Jeane attended Martin College in Pulaski, TN and moved to Nashville where she lived from 1948-2002 and was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ.  She then moved to Lawrenceburg where she lived near family for the rest of life.  Rudie Jeane was a licensed cosmetologist and later worked for Bellsouth, where she retired with 25 years service and was a homemaker.   She was a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers, and the Lawrence County senior citizens where she enjoyed bingo.

She was deeply devoted to her family, loved animals and flowers, reading and to travel.  She was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage and traveled to Scandinavia and took a cruise of the Norwegian coastline.  She traveled many places with three girlfriends as far as Quebec, Canada.  She also took many trips to visit family including Puerto Rico, Key West, New York and several trips to California.  Her favorite two names were “Granmomma” and “GeeGee”.

Her parents were Rudolph Benjamin and Viola Willingham Ellingson.  She was preceded in death by husband, Marlin C. Hood; daughter, Linda Hood Denney; and son-in-law, Clif Denney.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Hood Miele (Joseph) of Lawrenceburg, TN and Dianne Hood Miele (Thomas) of American Canyon, CA; eight grandchildren: Joshua Denney (Vanessa) of St John’s Island, SC, Jasmine Miele Jones (Kevin) of Rogersville, AL, Dillon Miele (Stephanie) of Lincoln, CA, Cameron Miele (Monica) of Lincoln, CA, Tasha Miele Holcomb (Andrew) of Milton, TN, Cory Miele (LeAnna) of Palmetto, FL, Erica Miele Howell (Lucas) of Leoma, TN, Stefan Miele (Lauren) of Winters, CA; and eight great-grandchildren: Carson Jones, Callie Grace Holcomb, Teo Miele, Rocco Miele, Mia Belle Miele, Luciana Miele, Isabella Holcomb, Aurelia Denney; and 2 expected great-grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Denney, Dillon Miele, Cameron Miele, Cory Miele, Stefan Miele and Carson Jones.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Miele, Thomas Miele, Kevin Jones, Andrew Holcomb and Lucas Howell.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 08, 2017, and 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 09, 2017, with Eric Nutt and Jacob Evans officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN.
