Ruby Michael McGee, age 97 passed away July 7, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Rogersville, Alabama. She was the second child of seven children born to Vandy and Opha Michael.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Hilda McLemore and Joyce DeAntonis; son, Roger McGee (Betty); daughter in law, Shelby McGee; seven grandchildren, Wesley McGee (Kaye), Rhonda McGee, Sandy Narmore (Mark), Kerry McGee )Vikki), Amy Gomoljak (Chris), Scott DeAntonis (Heather), and Lisa Register (Roy); twelve great-grandchildren, Erika McGee, Robin McGee, Faith Narmore, Joshua Narmore, Nikia McGee, Lucas McGee, Reese Gomoljak, Justin Register,Matthew Register, Eric DeAntonis, Sierra DeAntonis, and Sadie DeAntonis; three great-great-grandchildren, Tatum, Erik, and Marley.
Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her husband, Clellan McGee; daughter, Shirley Sims; son, Merlin McGee; brother, James Michael; sisters, Mildred Griffin, Doris King, Delsie Westbrook, Joan Clair, and Naomi Jackson; two sons in law, James McLemore and George DeAntonis.
Ruby believed the Bible, studied the Bible, and taught the Bible. She began teaching Sunday school as a young mother in 1945. She taught about 60 years, only stopping when she couldn’t see anymore.
Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2015, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church from 12 PM to 2 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at the church with Jason Vinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
