Ruby Mae Melson Stricklin departed this life on Friday, November 6, 2020, at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 14 days. She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on January 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Mattie Mae Moiser Melson. On August 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to John D. Stricklin, who preceded her in death on November 15, 1988.
Ruby Mae had lived most of her life in Hardin County, Tennessee and was a member of River Heights Pentecostal Church in Crump, Tennessee. She loved gardening, flowers, and everything to do with the outdoors.
Ruby Mae is survived by her children, George Thomas Stricklin and his wife Sharon of Greenfield, Tennessee, Jane Jarrett of Savannah, Tennessee, Billy Joe Stricklin and his wife Ramona of North Dakota, Frances Yevette Pigg and her husband Eddie of Linden, Tennessee, Jim Franklin Stricklin and his wife Pam of Savannah, Tennessee, Bobby Wayne Stricklin of Adamsville, Tennessee, and Julia Kaye Overfelt and her husband Jock of Rocky Mountain, Virginia; grandchildren, Jamie Stricklin, Meagan Stricklin, Mark Jarrett, Jonathan Jarrett, Rachel Brenot, Matthew Jarrett, Blake Stricklin, Chelsea Bohannon, Taylor Stricklin, Edward Pigg, Christopher Stricklin, Joshua Stricklin, Sara Grace Barnes, and Kaylie Barnes; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruby Mae was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Thomas, Harrison, Chester, Roy, Clyde, and Clarence Melson; sisters, Marie Miller, Lena Morris, Mattie Ayers, and infant sister Emma Melson; grandchild, Joshua Erick Jarrett; and great grandchildren, Sailor Jarrett and Aurora Jewel Jarrett.
