Ruby L. Charles, 84 of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at River City Care & Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Hammons officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Charles was born November 18, 1930, in Tanner to Jack Webb and Alma Goodin. She is preceded in death by her husband, W.J. “Chubby” Charles; grandson, Jacob Crow; daughter-in-law, Karen Charles; parents, Jack Webb and Alma Goodin Lewis; two sisters, Ruth Peek and Barbara Ann Webb and brother, J.C. Jr. Webb.
Mrs. Charles was a homemaker and she loved her family. She was a lifelong member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Billy Charles of Birmingham; two daughters, Terri (Rick) Watwood of Decatur and Anita (Ricky) Crow of Priceville; grandchildren, Allison Charles, Charles (Brooke) Watwood, Matt (Laura Lee) Charles, Leigh Watwood, Jillian (Patrick) Smith and Jonathan Crow; one great-grandson, Jackson Watwood and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family wants to thank River City Care & Rehabilitation west wing staff and Hospice of The Valley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of The Valley or Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church.
