Ruby Joyce Bates Dodd , age 78, of Florence, Ala., passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. Joyce was born Nov.11, 1933, at Cypress Inn, Tenn. to Thomas and Ida Bates. She is survived by sons, Keith Dodd and wife, Marie, and Marty Dodd; grandchildren, Sarah Norton and husband, Steve, J. T., Victoria, Alexandria and Carrington; sister, Mollie Fowler; and numerous other relatives and friends. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Arlie H. Dodd; brothers, Wesley, Clarence and Cleo Bates; and sisters, Myrtle Hanback and Ollie Stricklin. Services will be Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, Tenn. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cypress Inn, Tenn., with Shackelford Funeral Directors, directing. Visitation will be Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Fund at 5919 Pumping Station Road, Iron City, TN. 38463.
