Obituary of Ruby Jean AbbottRuby Jean Abbott, 94, of Jasper, went to her heavenly home, Sunday, May 21, 2023, at home. Family will receive friends Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Service will follow at 12 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Joy Baptist Church Cemetery. Jonathan Grace will officiate.

She was married to the Rev. Herman Abbott for 45 years up until his death on Feb. 17, 1994. She worked as a homemaker, and her home was her castle. She loved to cook and clean and make sure her house was always ready for any unexpected guest at anytime. She had three children. Infant Herman Jr. which was born and passed on Sept. 20, 1952. Daughter Donna Mauldin and Son Benny (Benjy) Abbott. She was blessed with four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren in her life. She lived a good long life to 94 years and was a fighter till the very end. She was loved by her family and she was like a mother hen that always wanted her family within close range at all times. Her family was her life, but she trusted in the Lord to always carry her on. There is without a doubt that Heaven is her home now.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Herman Abbott; infant son, Herman Abbott Jr.; grandson, Jason Speegle; parents, Bennie and Audrey Short; brother, Gene Short; sisters, Christine Grace and Dean Moon.

She is survived by her children, Donna Mauldin (David) and Benjy Abbott (Kim); grandchildren Natasha Kilpatrick (Kevin), Daryl Abbott (Jenna), and Kacy Vail (Jacob); brother, Billy Short; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Speegle, Brody Copeland, Coltin Kilpatrick, Payton Kilpatrick, Elaina Abbott, Ford Abbott, Noah Abbott, Asher Vail, and Addie Vail; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you from the family to Southeast Hospice.
