Ruby Geneva Purser – Obituary

RubyRuby Geneva Purser, 85, of Florence passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Elkins with Bro. James Webster and Bro. Brian McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Emmaline Stutts Cemetery.

Mrs. Purser worked for Rogers Department Store in Florence for 18 years. She was an active member of the Killen United Methodist Church and she loved preparing large meals and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Purser; sons, Larry Purser (Linda) and Dennis Purser (Vicky); grandchildren, Jennifer, Tonya, Amy, LaSondra, Dale, Christopher, Lanette and Jase; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Hines and Edward Hines (Jan)

She was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Purser; parents, T.L. and Eva McMurtry Hines; five brothers, Clifford Hines, Elmer Hines, Joe Thomas Hines, James Hines, and T.L. Hines, Jr.; sisters, Lucille Liles, Pauline Bretherick, and Willie Tee Thigpen; and one grandson, Timothy Purser

Pallbearers will be Leon Hines, Wayne Hines, Donnie Hines, Dale May, Christopher Green, and Houston Passarella.

The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to the staff of Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home, Hospice of the Shoals, and all the caregivers who have been such a blessing. Especially her two daughter-in-laws, Linda and Vicky Purser.
