Ruby Estelle LenoxRuby Estelle (Oden) Lenox (89) was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 24, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1935, to Wilburn (Bud) Oden and Mattie Lee (McCarley) Oden. She was married to her precious husband, Lester Levon Lenox for 69 years before his death in 2022.
Families are living things, not just photos on the wall or names on gravestones. Ruby was the lifeblood of the family, passing on the stories of those who had come before and creating many precious memories for her own children and grandchildren to share with future generations. She was a teacher at Union Hill School for 25 years, blessing the lives of countless children. She shared Jesus and worked for years with the youth of New Canaan Baptist Church. After her retirement, she cultivated a beautiful flower garden in her backyard and often shared flowers with friends and neighbors. Her generosity, encouragement, and love for others was evident in all she did.
Survivors include son, Ricky Lenox (Barri); daughters Karen Lenox McCaghren (Marty) and Kelley Lenox Smith (Ron); grandchildren Josh Lenox (Marla), Kacia McCaghren Bray (Rusty), Laura Lenox Gallagher (Dan), Brandon McCaghren, Chelsey Smith, Annie Lenox (Paul), Max Lenox (Kristen), and Colton Smith; great-grandchildren, Logan McCaghren, Maddie Ward, Zeb Ward, Amberly Lenox, Declan McCaghren and Wesley Lenox-Wood; brother, Dean Oden (Sandy); and many beloved sister and brother in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by not only her parents and her husband, but also her son, Randall Kent Lenox; and twin granddaughters, Savannah and Suzannah Lenox.
At her request, family and friends will celebrate her life in a private service in her flower garden this spring, when her flowers begin to bloom, and the birds begin to sing praises to God.
Special thanks to Jeanetta Birmingham and Affinity Hospice for the wonderful care they provided at the end of her life. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
