Ruben D. Clanton, 86, of Buchanan, Mich., died Dec. 23, 2013, in South Bend, Ind. Ruben was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Waterloo, Ala. to William J. Clanton Jr. and Maggie (Weston) Clanton.

On Dec. 24, 1944, in Waterloo, Ala., he married Christine (Hancock) Clanton. Ruben served in the United States Army duringĀ World War II. He retired in 1993 after 35 years of service at Skyline Corp, Elkhart, Ind.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife, Christine Clanton; sons, Phillip “Greg” (Kristie) Clanton, of Osceola, Ind., Steven D. (Joyce) Clanton, of Magnolia, Texas, Ruben “Mike” (Leisha) Clanton, of Buchanan, Mich., and David “Brian” (Melissa) Clanton, of Bourbon, Ind. ;and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nora Vaughn, Christine Miles, Beatrice Farris and Peggy Sue Clanton; and brothers, James, Jessie and William Clanton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle, 945 Chippewa, Buchanan, Mich. Military graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Ind. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior to services at the church Monday.
