Royce Wood, 87, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 28, 1929 in Dorsey to T.W. “Trick” and Nova Lee Tindall Wood. He was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church and attended Crossroads Christian Church. He served 38 years in the Mississippi National Guard and retired a Warrant Officer (W4). He was activated to the United States Army on several occasions. During his military career he was stationed and visited numerous cities throughout the world. He enjoyed fishing, working with the heavy equipment on his farm and tending to his cattle. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren, Xan, Sabey and Tarley.
Services will be 10 AM Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Carr and Bro. Devin Dutka officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his son, Ted Wood (Angie) of Mooreville; three sisters, Arvie Roper of Belden, Rita Vinson of Clinton and Helen Gardner of Tupelo; two brothers, Paul Wood (Martha) of Plantersville and Andy Wood of Brewer; four grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mavis Wood; one brother, Marvin Wood and one sister, Vama Wade.
Pallbearers will be the Mississippi National Guard Honor Guards. Honorary Pallbearers will be James R. Cooper, Bruce Roberts, Greg O’Quinn, Clyde Godfrey and his nephews.
Visitation will be 4-8 Monday.
