Royce-Hughes-1464095531Coach Royce Hughes of Pulaski passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Southern Tennessee Regional Healthcare System in Pulaski. She was born on March 22, 1943 in Pulaski and was 73 years old.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a member of Second Street Church of Christ. Royce graduated from Giles County High School in 1961, and attended Martin Methodist College during her Junior and Senior year of high school. She began her teaching career at Rogers High in Green Hill Alabama and starting teaching at Martin Methodist College in 1968 until 2009. She attended Peabody College and Middle Tennessee State University. Coach Hughes has coached tennis, basketball and softball, cheerleading and served as Athletic Trainer at Martin College and director of the Curry Christian Life Center and manager of the Grace Grissom Natatorium. Coach Hughes served alongside 84 different athletic department staff members and touched the lives of an estimated 8,000 student-athletes.
Visistation will be on Wednesday, May 25th from 12:00pm until 8:00pm at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home
Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 26th at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Stevenson officiating.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Memorial Donations are suggested by the family to Martin Methodist College East Campus, 433 West Madison Street, Pulaski, TN. 38478.
She was preceded in death by her, parents, Roy Thurman and Ara Knight Springer.
She is survived by her,
Husband of 49 years, Terry Hughes of Pulaski
Daughter, Tancy Hughes of Pulaski
Son, Troy Hughes and wife Andrea of Pulaski
Grandchildren, Clay Hughes and Victoria Highes
Step-grandchildren, Courtney Pettus and A. J. Pettus
Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Coach Royce Hughes.
