Funeral service for Mr. Royce Bragwell, age 83 of Decatur, will be conducted on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM from the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Haines officiating. Burial will follow the services in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur. The family of Mr. Bragwell will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Bragwell was born on December 13, 1941, in Franklin County, Alabama to Dolph and Pearl Entrekin Bragwell. He was a man that never met a stranger, very kind and humble. He was a very big supporter of his family and had the most generous spirit. Royce retired at the age of 55 from Monsanto and his favorite past time was taking long walks through the neighborhood, speaking to everyone he saw.
Royce is preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Elizabeth Bragwell; parents, Dolph and Pearl Bragwell; brother, David Bragwell. He is survived by his loving wife, Janette Bragwell; daughters, Michelle Freeman and Suzanna (Kenny) Hogan; six grandchildren, Tiffani Hogan, Heath (Larissa) Freeman, Destinee (Heath) Bailey, Hannah Hogan, Kennadi (Aaron) Cartee and Kirstin (Peyton) Mullican; six great grandchildren, Khloe Stewart, Hensley Mercer, Braxlee Freeman, Carter Wilkey, Sutton Bailey and Blake Cartee; one sister, Carolyn (Ray) Smelser; four brothers, Wallace (Barbara) Bragwell, Curtis Bragwell, Steve (Pat) Bragwell and Harold (Janice) Bragwell; also a host of nieces and nephews.
The family has honorably asked Kenny Hogan, Heath Freeman, Heath Bailey, Peyton Mullican, Aaron Cartee, Ray Smelser, Bryan Wallace and Don Farbanks to be pallbearers and for his brothers, Wallace, Curtis, Steve and Harold to be honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Charlotte Posey who gave exceptional care to Mr. Bragwell and his family.
